Campbell River’s young gymnasts shine at Provincial Championships

Several came home with medals

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent a group of girls to the Compulsory Provincial Championships held at the Queens Park Arena in New Westminister from April 11 to 14.

Highlights of this competition include Kali Doleman winning three event medals including becoming the provincial champion on the vault and second all-around in her division. Ocea Jensen-West captured two medals on vault and bars. Koiia Hausner, Alyse Aydon and Mya Lablonski also came home with individual event medals. Miley McLean was just shy of a podium finish capturing fourth all-around.

For the team awards, Campbell River came home in third place for the CCP 4 division and 11th place with the CCP 3 team.

Below are the following results:

CCP 5 C division

Linnea Jones captured the sixth-place ribbon on the beam, won the eighth-place ribbon on bars, and finished 10th on the floor and 11th on vault to come home in 12th place all-around.

CCP 4 A division

Doleman captured the gold medal on vault, won the bronze medals on both beam and floor and finished sixth on bars to come home with the silver medal all-around.

Hausner won the bronze medal on bars, captured the fourth-place ribbon on beam, and finished 12th on floor and 13th on vault to come home in sixth-place all-around.

Alia Pasquale won the sixth-place ribbon on the floor, captured seventh place on the bars, and finished 11th on the beam and 12th on the vault to come home in eighth place all-around.

CCP 4 B division

Aydon won the silver medal on beam, won the sixth-place ribbon on vault, and finished eighth on bars and 17th on floor to come home in 12th place all-around.

CCP 3 A division

McLean won the fifth-place ribbons on the vault, bars and beam, and finished seventh on the floor to come home in fourth place all-around.

Jensen-West captured the bronze medals on both vault and bars and placed 14th on the floor and 15th on the beam to come home in 11th place in all-around.

Gracie Taylor won eighth place on vault, placed 14th on both bars and beam, and finished 15th on floor to come home in 15th place all-around.

CCP 3 C division

Drew Thomson captured seventh place on the beam, received ninth place on the floor, and finished 12th on both the vault and bars to come home in ninth all-around.

Maya Thomson won the fourth-place ribbon on the vault, placed eighth on the floor, and finished 12th on beam and 13th on bars to come home in 10th place all-around.

Leah Simonett tied for the fourth-place ribbon on vault, won the sixth-place ribbon on bars and finished 11th on the beam and 14th on the floor to come home in 11th place all-around.

CCP 3 D division

Harper Hughes captured seventh place on vault, placed 11th on bars, finished 13th on floor and 16th on beam to come home in 13th place all around.

CCP 2 D division

London McRoberts won the sixth-place ribbon on vault, received 11th place on bars, finished 19th on beam and 19th on floor to come home in 19th.

CCP 2 E division

Verenna Toelle captured the seventh-place ribbon on the floor and took home 10th place on both the vault and bars, and finished 18th on the beam to come home in 15th place.

CCP 2 F division

Mya Yablonski won the silver medal on vault, captured sixth place on floor, finished ninth on bars and 13th on beam to come home in sixth place.
