It saddens us to announce the sudden passing of Richard Murray Parkes (AKA Dick) on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the age of 76.
He is survived by his wife Sharelle; his three children from a previous marriage Debbie Mackinnon (Angus), Donna Pernitzky (Rick), and Richard Parkes (Deborah); and his stepson Bret Mezei.
Also surviving Richard are brothers Gordon (Fay), Nelson (Faye Jean), Harvey, Walter (Jennifer), sister Margaret Lee (Serge) and an "extensive" family.
He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Margaret; brothers Randy, Donnie, Bob and Ken, and stepson Todd Mezei.
Richard was born in Portage La Prairie MB on April 27, 1947, and grew up in Lynn Lake MB until the age of 18 when he moved to Winnipeg to start his apprenticeship as a steamfitter.
He met Sharelle in Calgary and they were happily (Ha Ha) married for 45 years. They settled in Gold River in 1980, found fish and never left. He was the ultimate small-town guy. He enjoyed watching and playing sports and never missed Tuesday golf. He was quick to volunteer an extra hand. He loved to play cards and joke around with the boys.
He will truly be missed.
