In Loving Memory ~

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Jacquie Abbott. After a brief battle with cancer, she left this world on March 27 surrounded by family and friends.

Born the youngest of six to Gladys and Jack Lee in Powell River, the family moved to Campbell River in 1952. Jacquie graduated from Carihi in 1969 and went on to study at UVIC with intentions of becoming a librarian. She started at Safeway in 1972 and worked there until the store closure in 1999, making dozens of lifelong friends along the way. She married Russell Abbott in 1973, and together they raised their boys until Russell's untimely death in 1996.

Jacquie had a second chance at love when she met Merv Belanko in 2003. They spent much of their time travelling, often with bowling balls in tow, until Merv's death in 2016.

Jacquie is predeceased by her brothers Don, Bob, and Gordy; survived by her sisters Audrey, and Gail, her sons Richard (Rowan & Tanner), and Tyler (Claire & Lucas), stepchildren Michelle, Gene, and Chris.

We are eternally grateful for the care and support provided by her doctors, nurses, and home healthcare team, which allowed her to spend her final days in the comfort of her own home.

A celebration of life will be held at Maritime Heritage Centre on Sunday April 28, 1:00 - 3:00.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
